Very brief turbo review after one month of use: This is a very capable little netbook. Do read the amazon product description thoroughly as this is a Windows XP netbook. If you simply must have Windows 7 look elsewhere. Here are a few of our impressions. br /br /1. Very bright and crisp screen. Change the color quality to 32bit through XP display properties and this 1024x600 screen is gorgeous.br /br /2. Battery life (6 cell) is phenomenal. Depending on what you are doing and if you watch your power management, 9 hours is a very accurate rating. Just remember that wi-fi use and any processor intensive tasks like streaming video will reduce battery life - with this type of usage we have been getting about six hours. br /br /3. Keyboard is fine. Just remember it's a netbook. My only gripe is the 'tab' key is small. br /br /4. Speakers are horrible. Usable, but tinny, flat and on the bottom of the unit. However the included HD audio software makes headphones or external speakers sound quite nice. We have used this netbook with iTunes and connected to our home theater for a very nice little jukebox.br /br /5. Streaming video performance is impressive for a netbook. Windowed browser use is flawless but, Full-screen flash video can struggle to keep up with a lot of movement or action. Still very watchable though. br /br /6. Other features just work as you would expect. Basic webcam. Basic touchpad (with limited multi-touch). Decent hard drive space. br /br /All in all this is a great little netbook. Solid build quality and everything meets or exceeds all of our expectations. br /

My husband bought this netbook for me as I was having major back surgery and we thought it would be an easy way for me to keep my family and friends updated on my progress....wrong. We enrolled with a server, Clear, so that we could use the netbook away from home, as my surgery was not going to be in the same town we live in. After several attempts in getting the email up and running, the server representative felt there was something wrong with the Microsoft software on the netbook. We did have internet connection on the netbook. Then we contacted the Acer support service, and I spoke to several rather arrogant young Eastern Asian men who talked down to me nearly everytime I called them. We tried several things to get the Microsoft Outlook Express software to work, including uninstalling it and then re installing it. This did not work, and by this time we could not even get the netbook to come on. We were so frustrated. We were given the number of another service department "who have the smartest guys and they should be able to help you". There will be a charge for this though! I asked why there would be a charge when it was a new product and had never worked, and he went on to explain that Microsoft installs their software and if it doesn't work properly then Acer is not responsible for that! I paid .95 to talk to another young man for 30 minutes, and he kept insisting I should have my home server on the netbook and he used all but 4 minutes of my time on this. I was not very long post op by this time, and I was in pain and just didn't have the energy to mess with it anymore. If anyone knows how to get some action out of these people, let me know!!!I know Amazon doesn't deal with the service on computers but to me this reflects badly on them. The whole thing sounds like a scam, I buy the netbook and Oh dear the software doesn't work properly and Acer is not responsible for that, so now I have to pay to try and get it fixed!!!! I'm a first year college student and I was looking for a small laptop that had enough memory to save all my course notes onto without needing an external drive. I own a very large but wonderful 17" HP laptop but it was a hassle to bring to class and in my lecture halls there is rarely enough room to sit comfortably with such a large computer. So I went on a very long and tedious search that finally led me to this computer. At first I was a bit weary seeing as how it is so much smaller compared to my other computer but I found the transition relatively painless. The keyboard is almost full size and the only problem I've been having is pressing the s instead of the a. The screen is really perfect and although the web cam features and speakers are a little lacking I couldn't be happier with my laptop. I'm definitely going to recommend this product to my friends who are having similar problems.

Bought this computer to use with our wi-fi. It works great. The only issue we had was a sensitive tap function (doubles as left mouse button) on the touch pad which caused some miscues. Went to control panel and disabled the tap function and all is well.

I have 3 Acers, 1 HPs, 1 Samsung (the best) and this crappy Toshiba.br /br /Good things: br /br /a. Great Keyboard (which I dont use much since I have a wireless expanded one attached)br /b. Nice Aluminim/Blue color (that does not help at all for it's performance)br /c. Battery Life: Very Good.br /br /br /Real thing:br /I replaced the original RAM and placed a Crucial 2GB card as I had done to the rest of all of my other netbooks.br /br /The Toshiba is not as fast overall. Samsung Netbook is by far the quickest to open, launch, start and shutdown. Samsung has not the strongest body. Acer does, however, for standard non-aggressive use, Samsung is the best of all. Also the battery never gets hot. Acer is the kind you can dump to the floor and no one will notice. Those two are just great. HP also is a fine computer.br /br /Toshiba does not support multiple monitors. I bought this computer along with a 23" monitor and a wireless keyboard and mouse in order to have 2 different screenshots at sight, but the expanded desktop feature does not work, since the original cheap video card only supports one monitor with the same view as the Desktop in the Netbook's screen.br /br /The unit looks very neat from the outide, and looks like a good value if all STANDARD TWENTYFIRST CENTURY's BASIC STANDARD TECHNOLOGY features came with it. br /Please note I am not talking about cutting-edge stuff. Just plain basics.br /But they are not included. br /br /Covnersely, instead of cheap, it turned out to be expensive since it does not meet basic standards. I found out that Toshiba did not even bother to use Bluetooth techonology, point which I took for granted, but pals ... Toshiba does not grant anything. You need a magnifying glass to buy Toshiba before you do.br /br /I called Customer service to ask about the EXPANDED DESKTOP which I could not make work , and they cordially said " We are sorry ... You can take your computer to Toshiba Service Center but you will have to pay yourself for your new multiple monitor Video Card ". br /br /Just need to check Windows 7 help center, to find out they donot even contemplate such an instance. No computers are designed without this feature. Except Toshiba, of course.br /br /Basically, I have a brand new left over 23" monitor, a brand new wireless Microsoft Keyboard and a wireless mouse which I will give my Son for his birthday since I cannot use it with my brand new Toshiba. br /br /This Toshiba, is not used to what it was meant for, since lack of bluetooth and lack of multiple monitor support, turned it to a great shopping list computer. br /WQhy be so pesimistic ??? br /br /I Type Milk, Salt, Peanut Butter and so on, and it works perfectly for that, since the keyboard is really nice.br /br /br /It is a great Netbook for everyone's kitchen !!!!!!

I bought this and since I know that I am not the typical user, I immediately doubled the RAM and HDD storage.br /With 4GB RAM and 500GB 7200rpm HDD, this is an excellent little computer.br /I have been a devoted Mac and Linux user for years... but this device almost allows me to tolerate Windows 7.br /If there is anything I could possibly improve, it would be that it comes pre-installed with Ubuntu.br /But, this has nothing to do with the hardware itself, which I have no complaints about.br /Oh and I have seen some other reviews about not liking the touchpad... I really like it and think it not only works well, it looks really cool.br /br /Feel free to ask me anything you are curious about.

I've had this Asus laptop for a few weeks now and am (for the most part) very impressed with it. Yes, it would be nice to have an optical drive, but I know that would make it a larger machine. This little thing packs a lot of punch! Windows 7 works flawlessly on it. I also like the touchpad because you can zoom and page up/down with it. br /br /I just have two complaints: 1) Battery life-Asus claims "up to" 5 hours of battery life. Their manual suggests letting the battery go thru some charge/discharge cycles to extend battery power. I'm lucky to get 4 hours of battery life, and that's on their most extreme "power saving" settings. 2)If you are like me and hate fingerprints and dust on your laptop, DO NOT get the black color! As soon as I took it out of the box, I could see dust particles attaching to the nice shiney black surface...yuck! I'm constantly wiping this thing down. I'm not sure why so many manufacturers make a majority of their laptops in gloss black.

If you think you are getting a high end laptop for the price of three-hundred bucks, then you are sorely mistaken. This is basically a smart phone PDA increased to the size of a ten inch screen with a keyboard attached. Most of the bells whistles are intact. br /br /At first it took me some time to get use to the screen. Websites are slightly altered due to the 10 inch screen, so and with the tool bar on top that includes (File, Refresh, etc) it can seem like there's hardly any room to view webpage's, but you'll get use to it. Viewing any site that you would on a regular desktop will have certain parts of the page moved around when viewing it on your netbook this is to be expected because of the size. br /br /I know everyone is complaining about the keypad, but it's really not that bad. It does take a few tries before you realized what works best for you. I've learned from having a Dell Studio Laptop that the best thing to do is just utilize the free space as a mouse and click. Don't bother trying to hit down on the key, but just double tap on the keypad to pick a selection. If you don't, you will find the experience of navigating through websites, typing a document on word, etc to be a horrendous experience. br /br /Otherwise, if you are looking for a great small compact netbook to stay connected to the web, check email, browse a few sites - then this is the netbook for you. There isn't much customization due to the small size of the netbook that feels very light just a little under three pounds and practically smaller and skinnier then the new Twilight book. I would have it ordered it on amazon, but it was cheaper through Dell. br /br /Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase because it's a great investment for anyone who needs internet access on the go. The only complaint I have is the price. I know its three-hundred, but I own a regular laptop with a 15 inch screen that HP was only three-hundred. Sure, it was not a high end groundbreaking laptop, but it does the trick power wise, it's stronger than the mini. I really feel the price point should drop by hundred bucks. We got this as a 2nd laptop, and had heard a lot about the netbooks (which are pretty much just used for internet).br /br /It is a serviceable netbook, but even if you have the highest speed connection, definitely don't expect the fastest response out there.br /br /As for games, yeah. Pretty much better stick to the basic ones, you aren't running The Sims 3 or WoW on this machine.br /br /Things that do work very well on this laptop is the webcam and the TV Tuner. br /br /Also, it has very good Wi-Fi range, we haven't had a problem with this feature at all.br /br /Overall, we wish we would have spent the extra 0-300 for a regular laptop. But if you just want this for internet and nothing else, it is definitely a serviceable laptop.br /br /PS: Make sure you get Windows 7 with this. Windows Vista + below average processor=LONG loading times.

I could not be happier with this product. The setup was easy, all features working as expected, very portable and fast at the same time and the HDMI allows me a new visual experience when I connect the netbook to my HD big screen TV/Monitor. Again this is a wonderful product, so far, running and running. My only technical problem is that the TV receiver freezes the screen when I try to see air HD channels. I think that the video card may be not the right one for the amount of processing that is needed.

I'm a first year college student and I was looking for a small laptop that had enough memory to save all my course notes onto without needing an external drive. I own a very large but wonderful 17" HP laptop but it was a hassle to bring to class and in my lecture halls there is rarely enough room to sit comfortably with such a large computer. So I went on a very long and tedious search that finally led me to this computer. At first I was a bit weary seeing as how it is so much smaller compared to my other computer but I found the transition relatively painless. The keyboard is almost full size and the only problem I've been having is pressing the s instead of the a. The screen is really perfect and although the web cam features and speakers are a little lacking I couldn't be happier with my laptop. I'm definitely going to recommend this product to my friends who are having similar problems.

After much research and comparison, I finally settled on the Samsung NC10 netbook. I've had it for several months and I don't regret my purchase at all. Here are the reasons I chose this model. br /The Pros:br /1: It has a matte screen. I don't know about you but I like to be able to read the screen everywhere I might happen to be using the netbook. I often need it in offices, which means lots of lights to create glare. This is an ultraportable. Glossy screens don't work well where there is a lot of light, especially outdoors.br /br /2: The keyboard size and layout: OK, I admit it. I am a keyboard snob. My home desktop has none other than an original IBM model-M "clicky" keyboard. The spacing and layout are the benchmark for which all other keyboards were created and are judged. I know I'm not going to find the same feel and size in a portable, but the NC10 does have a very nice keyboard for a netbook. I especially like how the arrow keys are "kicked down" so you get a full right Shift key.br /br /3: Color and appearance: I like the blue color and I also like the fact that the keyboard bezel is not glossy plastic. Ever seen a computer with a glossy bezel after five minutes of use? Every smudge and fingerprint are clearly visible. I can live with the glossy cover, it's pretty sharp looking but it does require frequent cleaning to keep the fingerprints away.br /br /4: Port placement and features: Everything is easy to get to and you get three USB ports, Bluetooth and an SD card reader. Very handy as just about all cameras now use SD cards. This makes it a great little machine to take along on digital photo runs. 2.5 pounds travels nicely and the hard drive is big enough to store a lot of photos, even at high resolution and file size.br /br /I've also discovered that this netbook has very good quality audio available at the headphone jack which make it very nice for listening to MP3 music on the go. The screen quality is sharp and bright with good color definition. Resolution is 1024x600. Small, but at least it isn't 1024x576. With a screen this size, the little bit of extra desktop space helps. Battery life has been coming in at around 6 hours in regular use. I am currently running Windows XP, I did test Windows 7 RC1 and it ran very well. You do have to download drivers for Windows 7. I created an image of the original XP install so I could go back if so needed. br /br /Now, the only one con:br /The touchpad. It's rather cramped and it's flush with the bezel, which means you can't really feel when your finger has left the touchpad surface. Takes a little getting used to. I can work with it, but a larger touchpad would have been nice. The button bar is also recessed back from the front edge of the netbook, so this also takes some getting used to. The workaround? For extended use, I have a bluetooth mouse.br /br /All in all though, I have to say I am very happy with my Samsung NC10. It performs well and does exactly what I bought it for; a light, easily portable secondary machine that works everywhere. My regular laptop runs Windows 7, so it's nice having an XP machine around for when it's needed. I have even performed data recovery on a couple of occasions using a USB to SATA adapter and the NC10 performed brilliantly. It's proven to be quite versatile and a workhorse at that.

This Machine Broke Four times in less than a year same issue everytime with the LCD screen..Samsung does not stand behind their 1 yr warranty..Keep away from Samsung Notebooks/Netbooks..Repair turnaround is 3-4 weeks, usually done by third party companies.

I got this netbook April 2009. It's one of the best decisions I've made. it's so light and portable. taking a laptop with me when i go out was a decision...not anymore. so far i haven't faced a problem with it. br /I have a regular sized Toshiba that i don't use anymore ( it seems gigantic compared to the NC 10)br /my only complain would be that it doesn't have a DVD drive, but i bought a portable one (to watch my netflix movies.

Im gonna start saying that this is such a nice netbook, from the design to the functionality, size and weight.br /Some say this has an issue with the fan and claim that is too noisy but thats not true mine is very quiet, doesnt overheats.br /keyboard is good not as normal keyboard but you get used too it.br /the 6 cell battery is a charm,with low brihtness you can get up to 8 hours.br /some key features are 1key recovery,web cam mic,face recognition.br /I love lenovo this is my first netbook and im already using it more than my primary laptop (wich is an ideapad y510)its just so easy to get on the web.br /It has an quick boot option that puts you on the web or skype or im in less than 30secs, this option is so handy.br /overall i recommend this netbook its good on design, price, and performance, i have never had any issue with my other lenovo and this one seems to be good as well.

Cheap Plastic Cracks (Lenovo Warranty doesn't cover) - W. Piper -
br /br /The Lonevo S10-2 is a beautiful and ultra portable netbook. It is not the most powerful 'laptop' on the market but for surfing the web and word processing it is perfect.br /br /POSITIVESbr /br /Gorgeous Designbr /Ultra Portablebr /3 USB Portsbr /Card Readerbr /Never gets very hotbr /br /br /NEGATIVESbr /br /1. Big Negative and why it gets one star. There is a design flaw in the plastic monitor frame. After a few months a crack develops which is constantly spreading. This is not as a result of a bump or a drop (my laptops are treated with kid gloves) but in my opinion due to pressure on the frame from the hinge itself. br /br /The crack develops close to and on the laptop hinge. I have read other reviews online referring to the same problem at the left hinge or both hinges, so there is clearly a design flaw. To compound the problem Lenovo does not wish to honor this flaw as a warranty claim. For this alone I would suggest persons NOT buy this product.br /br /br /2. Small keyboard is okay to use for short periods of time, but any lengthy typing is strenuous. br /br /3. There is a problem with the sleep mode where it will wake up on its own while it is closed and this results in the battery being drained or the machine getting very hot if left in a case.br /br /4. The speakers are very poor and located under the keyboard. As such headphones will be needed to properly listen to audio.br /br /In summary I would love to love this laptop. I really wish everything was perfect with it. But it has a terrible design flaw and a manufacturer who appears yet to recognize and admit it. As such avoid the headache and avoid this machine. There are many other options in the same price range with the same specs.

This is definitely one of the best netbook on the market, and considering the price, this Lenovo S10-2 Netbook IS THE BEST. I am surprised that there are so few reviews here.br /br /I got this product two weeks ago, and it is working great! Battery life is 6-7 hours. Looks very cool and is indeed very stable. You can enlarge the view on the screen just with the touchpad, which is very convenient for a netbook with small screen. br /br /One big advantage is the price. There are too much similar netbooks on this level. Some of them are more popular, bu they are really not that different. So the price become the advantage of this netbook.br /br /Lenovo makes very reliable computer with surprisingly cheap price. I feel very comfortable carrying it with me wherever I go. br /br /Enjoy it!
